Kids Swimming Aids
We here at Splish Splash Splosh understand that every parent will have different views with regards to Kids Swimming Aids. Whether the deciding factors are cost, support, body position or just having what they use for their classes. There are a large variety of different swimming aids to choose from. Because our staff are all qualified swimming instructors they are able to help advise you as to what product will best suit your needs.
We have inflatable trainer seats for young babies, ideal if you are swimming as a whole family. The seat allows baby to bob around in the water without being constantly held. We stock the traditional Float Bands, as well as the more popular Roll Up armbands. No more struggling to put them on at the side of the pool, or complaints from the rough edge rubbing underarms. With roll ups you inflate fully first, and then simply roll them up your child’s arms, the child can then adjust them themselves if they start to become uncomfortable. Another traditional swimming aid we stock is swim rings; these are more suited for confident children who may just need a break from swimming, or a little help with their buoyancy. These are not ideal as children can slip through the whole – they do not develop a child’s independence as well as some other aids.
A Float suit is ideal for building a child’s confidence in the water, whilst allowing the parent to relax somewhat when their child is in the pool. With float support around the torso, the child is held in the optimum position for swimming. The floats can be removed as the child’s confidence increases but until then the child is free to explore the pool area and enjoy activities such as jumping in. Some parents prefer to use the swimming aids their child uses during their swimming lessons. For this reason we also stock the top floatation aids used by swim schools all round the country. Back floats are popular aids as they help to improve a child’s body position in the water. Holding the child in the prone position, the back float can also be adjusted as the child improves. Swim discs are another popular swimming aid used by swim schools. Swim discs are made from foam and are worn on the arms like armbands, however they are built up on the arms to increase floatation; this can mean that a child can struggle with a number of discs on each arm, and not be able to concentrate on swimming. The most popular kids swimming aid used by swim schools are called Tubes/ Woggles or Noodles depending on where in the country you live. No matter what they’re called the support they give is universal; from a new mother being able to float around the pool with her new baby, to children learning how to swim on both their front and back. The Tubes provide support and help assist body position. They are flexible and can be adapted for many different swimming exercises.
Please remember kids need to be supervised when using any swimming aid, however at Splish Splash Splosh we can advise you as to what product will be best for you.
